Life.
It can be challenging. It can be exhilarating. It can wear us down. We try our best... but sometimes it just feels like we are not making the progess or living the life we wish we were. There is a subtle, yet fairly pervasive idea that percolates under the surface of much of life in our American culture... you should do it yourself. If you're a capable, successful person you shouldn't need anyone else in order to figure out your life. Not to put too fine a point on it... but that's a lie. We need others. We were never meant to go it alone. Throughout my two and a half decades of pastoral ministry... this has been a recurring reality among those with whom I have worked. It's not just an American need... its not even an exclusively contemporary need. As people, we need others. The biblical king, Solomon, noted this reality milenia ago... "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. [10] For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!" (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10) That's where Life Coaching can be helpful. As a Coach, my work is to come alongside you... to help you navigate the phase of life you are going through. It may be a time of transition... from one job to another, from parenting to empty nest, from empty nest to caring for elderly parents, and so on. It may be a time of relationship change - preparing for marriage or re-marriage - or relationship struggle. It may be a time of loss and grief. Whatever the phase of life you are in, life coaching with eighteensix can encourage, strengthen, and equip you along your way. As will all aspects of eighteensix, the goal of life coaching is to help you find your place on God's potter's wheel... where his love and grace can shape and mold you for the life God has for you.
